Top 3 SEO tools you have to know about

Want to know which SEO tools actually make a difference? Here are the top 3 must-know tools that smart businesses use to boost rankings, track performance, and outsmart competitors.

After understanding SEO, we usually realise that few tools would be very helpful. For different web-development softwares there are different tools that might help you with keyword consistency, meta descriptions etc., but today I will point out Top 3 SEO tools that will help you no matter your web-dev software.

Please make sure that, before you read this, you understand SEO fully and you have created your SEO strategy in which you can implement these tools.

Not all of these tools are 100% necessary. If you are a small business owner, Google Search Console and Google Analytics might be absolutely sufficient for you with your SEO knowledge.

Google Search Console and Google Analytics - two tools, not one, welcome to Google

These are free tools from Google which are absolutely necessary as they reflect your real data.

Use Google Analytics primarily as your tool to understand how customers act on your website. You can use it to adjust small details and make sure your customers flow where you want. Google Search Console focuses more deeply on SEO and provides you with:

  • Performance reports with CTR, impressions, rankings, etc.
  • Core Web Vitals
  • Index coverage, GSC is the place where you add your sitemap

Ahrefs - the all-in-one SEO tool

You want to become a backlink god or to spy on your competition? Welcome to Ahrefs. Ahrefs is a great place to understand your competition and new keyword opportunities.

Ahrefs has:

  • Site explorer which enables you to check backlink profiles
  • Great keyword explorer with SERP (Search Engine Results Page) analysis
  • Tools to track your ranking and provide content gap analysis 

Another alternative to Ahrefs can be Semrush.

Screaming frog - yes that's the actual name

Screaming Frog is a great old-school crawler which crawls through your whole website analyzing broken links, duplicate content etc. and creates a great audit report for you to understand every single detail.

For example, it is amazing to use when you redesign your website to crawl and find any 404 pages which hurt your overall SEO performance.

Screaming frog offers:

  • XML sitemap generator, then upload this sitemap to your Google Search Console (if you use webflow you can create an automatic sitemap) 
  • Meta descriptions and Title tags review
  • Detailed technical audits

Applying these tools

As I said in the beginning, it is really important to understand SEO properly before using any of these tools. These tools are absolutely great when they act as your source of data and a catalyst for your SEO strategy. 

If you also want a tool that might help you with content optimization look at Surfer SEO which has an AI writing assistant and does a great On-Page SEO audit.

Please be careful though with AI in SEO as we have to remember that Google is all about original content that provides value.
